Sourced from Fiddlestix Vineyard in the Santa Rita Hills, this wine was made with 50% stainless steel and 50% neutral french oak. Half of the fruit was left on skins for 24 hours giving a richer golden color and some light tannin structure to round out the mouth feel.
Originally an Austrian varietal, I fell in love with Grüner in 2016 when I spent a harvest in New Zealand. This grape is known for being aromatic and crisp with a distinct saline minerality. In Santa Barbara County, it also adopts a depth of fruit and floral characteristics reminiscent of the first, barely ripe strawberries of the season and lemon verbena.

2016 Aurora White
48 Cases produced.
Co-fermented white blend picked on a single day, consisting of 40% Sauvignon Blanc from Coquelicot Vineyard, 20% Viognier from McGinley Vineyard, 20% Sémillon and 20% Roussanne from Refugio Ranch.
Each lot was separately foot stomped and left on the skins for about 6 hours of contact to add richness and complexity.
This is the white wine for red wine drinkers.
With lower acid and bold, evolving aromatics, this is a great food wine pairing excellently with pork, poultry, soft cheeses, spicy and Asian flavors.
