Our Story

Introducing Luna Hart Wines, a testament to the artistry and dedication of our visionary winemaker, Gretchen Voelcker. Nestled in the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley, Luna Hart Wines is more than a boutique wine company; it is a haven for those who appreciate the extraordinary.

Crafted in small batches, each bottle is a masterpiece, meticulously brought to life by Gretchen's unwavering commitment to the art of minimal intervention winemaking. Gretchen refined her winemaking skills while learning the craft and culture of French winemaking, and the opportunity to make and sip some of the finest French wine inspired her current winemaking philosophy. Luna Hart Wines is the fruition of that journey —a symphony of flavors that transcends the ordinary, inviting you to savor the exceptional.

After discovering her passion for winemaking in Europe, Grechen has honed her craft into a beautiful blend of science and art that showcases the best of Santa Barbara County.

As you uncork a bottle of Luna Hart, you embark on a sensory voyage, guided by the hands of a true artisan. Every sip is an experience, a celebration of the delicate nuances that define these handcrafted creations. Luna Hart Wines is not just a label; it's a statement of sustainability, a commitment to minimalism with an attention to detail in the winery, and a testament to the pursuit of perfection in every pour.

Our Team

Gretchen Voelcker

Gretchen is the mastermind winemaker and owner extraordinaire behind Luna Hart Wines. Her journey ignited in the charming wine regions of Europe, fostering a passion harmonized with her love for nature. From growing up on her family's horse and lavender farm in Coatesville, PA, to studying Business & French at Georgetown, followed by plant science at UC Santa Cruz, her odyssey led her to Santa Barbara County.

With a foundation laid at Rideau Vineyard and guidance from revered mentors, she evolved into an artisan winemaker. Nestled at Piazza Bella Vista in Ballard Canyon, Gretchen crafts minimal interference wines from grapes grown organically or sustainably by friends in Santa Barbara County.

Join her in our magical realm atop Ballard Canyon, where she crafts both Piazza Family Wines and Luna Hart Wines. When not winemaking, Gretchen indulges in her pursuits—hiking with her loyal companion, Koru; training Ebony, her Friesian Filly; and refining her Mounted Archery skills with Thoroughbred, Marco.

Luna Hart Wines encapsulates the essence of her journey—exceptional, unique, and steeped in the artistry of nature and winemaking.

Tymari LoRe

Tymari LoRe, our orchestrator of the business, began her wine journey in a historic winery in Saratoga, CA. What started as a summer affair during a business internship blossomed into a lifelong passion for hospitality and connection through the art of wine.

Tymari's global odyssey led her from the sun-drenched vineyards of Spain's Catalunya region to the picturesque landscapes of France's Loire Valley. Her expertise flourished at Kita Wines, where she delved into every aspect of winemaking, from vineyard management to crafting budgets. During this time she met Gretchen, and a shared love for music, life, and wine blossomed at the Rideau facility. After honing her skills in Burgundy, Tymari managed Folded Hills for five years before fate brought her and Gretchen back together, reigniting a dream born around a campfire at a Women in Wine gathering.

The time had finally come for these two to team up. Now, as Luna Hart's general manager, Tymari connects the dots, pushing the brand to new heights. With insights gained from her diverse experiences, she collaborates with Gretchen to continue to build this exceptional brand and be Gretchen’s right hand. For Tymari, working with Gretchen is a dream come true. Their partnership is the balance they seek in the wines they share with all of us.
